with most of its shoreline adjacent to Forsyth and Hall Counties.
It is the largest man made lake near a metropolitan area in the
nation, has the largest floating marina in the world and a road network including GA Hwy 400 and Interstates

Boating,
sailing, fishing, water skiing, picnicking and sight-seeing are enjoyments
to be experienced at Lake Lanier. There are more than 7 million
visitors annually. Aside from commercial attractions,
there are family activities and championship golf. Lanier's
hospitalities hosted the rowing and sprint canoe/kayak competition
in the 1996 Summer Olympics.
